scohp

SCOHP, the Standing Committee on Humanitarian Projects, is one of the six Standing Committees of IFMSA – Egypt. In Egypt, SCOHP was initiated in 2007 to gather medical students from different universities around Egypt to guide them on how to share in and advocate for humanitarian issues and promote relevant projects in Egypt.

Mission:

Our mission is to offer Egypt’s future physicians a comprehensive introduction to humanitarian issues. We are dedicated to work towards empowering and improving the life of vulnerable people and alleviating the pain of those suffering.

Activities:

SCOHP is the newest addition to the Standing Committees in IFMSA-Egypt. In SCOHP, we aim to create a sense of social responsibility in the form of advocating for human rights, supporting vulnerable groups and those in crisis, and to take an active role in charity work. As future physicians, we aim to work on improving the doctor-patient relation by advocating for medical patients rights.

Our Projects in SCOHP:

- Patients Rights

- Orphan’s Day

- Women’s Rights

Patients Rights:

The World Heath Organization has stipulated that assuring that the rights of patients are protected requires more than educating policy makers and health providers; it requires educating citizens about what they should expect from their governments and their health care providers—about the kind of treatment and respect they are owed. Citizens, then, can have an important part to play in elevating the standard of care when their own expectations of that care are raised.

IFMSA-Egypt’s SCOHP team is committed to advocate for patient rights via enhancing the doctor-patient relationship and searching for solutions for the availability of low cost medical services.

Orphan's Day:scohp1

This project aims to try to make a change in the lives of less fortunate children. We hope to elevate the well being of orphans and to empower them to succeed in whatever they wish to.
